Roly Poly Critters – One Thimble Issue 11 Blog Tour

The most recent issue of One Thimble contains some absolutely adorable patterns! You have already seen my fun 3D Puzzle Animals but there is so much more cuteness in this issue!

Stephanie of Swoodson Says designed these super cute Roly Poly Critters and I had my heart set on making some long before the issue even released. 4 sets of Critters later … and I still LOVE the pattern.

I used fleece instead of felt for all four sets and they turned out SO soft and cuddly. I also hand-stitched all the facial features … Mostly because I can bring it with me to the park and sew while Monkey plays with her friends. And, I also really just enjoy hand sewing.

I made my first set for a friend’s one year old daughter’s birthday gift and, unfortunately, did not take any pictures before sending them off. For that set, I stuck with the same colors Stephanie uses in the pattern for each animal except the fox (I swapped out orange for the yellow.)

The second set (shown in these photos) I made for another friend’s daughter’s second birthday using some fun patterns. All of the older kids at the party even had a blast playing with the Critters. They, literally, provided hours of entertainment at the party.

The third set is identical to the second set and was demanded by Monkey after all the fun at the last birthday party. She absolutely HAD to have her own set of Critters (and I don’t blame her!)

This fox is, by far, my favorite of the bunch …

The fourth set is for a friend’s upcoming baby shower and I haven’t completely finished sewing them. I assembly line sewed all of the facial features of the four sets at the same time. So, all I have left is to sew the various panels of these balls together. I made this set in pastel pinks and purples and cannot wait to give them to her!

I HIGHLY recommend this pattern. You can buy this pattern by itself* or, for an even better deal, purchase Issue 11* and get all of the adorable patterns (and super helpful articles!) If you don’t have Issue 11 of One Thimble, you should definitely check it out. This might just be my favorite issue yet!
