Sew Mama Sew’s Bluefig Challenge
Disclosure: I received a complimentary “Learn to Sew Kit” from Bluefig. All opinions here are mine. I only recommend products I truly love and think my readers will also enjoy. This post may contain affiliate links, as indicated by an *
I bought Monkey a sewing machine for her birthday recently so when I saw Sew Mama Sew’s Bluefig Challenge, I knew we had to participate.
Monkey picked out some fabric on her birthday and we have been playing around with various stitches on the new machine (This is the one I bought her* and LOVE it!) but this is the first actual project she has sewn and she was SO proud.
Bluefig sells “Learn to Sew Kits” for kids containing precut pieces of felt and ranging from beginner to more advanced projects in three skill levels.
Monkey picked the “Lil Purse” from the beginner level as well as the sea creature “adornment pack.” (The adornment packs contain precut felt shapes to decorate your project.)
The felt included in the kits is thick and high quality. It was very easy for her to maneuver, with the exception of when she attempted to flip the bag rightside.
The kit included all the pieces to sew the purse in addition to a “Bluefig badge” and a butterfly embellishment. Monkey swapped out the badge for two of the sea creatures from the adornment pack.
The instructions were simple and thorough. I read each step to her and she was able to follow along with just a little assistance.
Monkey is so, so proud of herself and her newly learned sewing skills. She has been taking her new purse to the playground every day to share with all her friends.
