12 Days of Christmas Finger Puppets Tutorial and Free Pattern {Day 1 and 2}

12 Days of Christmas Finger Puppets - Day 1 and 2 - Felt With Love Designs

Hubby and I thought long and hard about what we wanted to create for this challenge and came up with the idea for 12 Days of Christmas finger puppets (plus a tutorial and free pattern to make your own!) After browsing the internet and coming up empty, we decided the idea was perfect.

Hubby sketched up several different ideas but they were too complicated to create from felt. After browsing images of 12 Days clip art, I came across this 12 Days of Christmas countdown. We both fell in love with the simplicity of the silhouettes and decided to modify them a bit to make them into finger puppets.

Our original idea was to make the appropriate number of each puppet but that would have taken me FOREVER so I settled for adding the number to each puppet. Not to mention, no one has 12 fingers to hold the 12 drummers drumming.

  3. Match up the bird’s front and back and stitch them together using a blanket stitch, leaving the bottom open. I also go back and stitch just the front edge of the opening with a blanket stitch to reinforce it but that is totally optional. 12 Days of Christmas Finger Puppets - Day 1 and 2 partridge bottom - Felt With Love Designs

The pattern for these finger puppets would make awesome felt board pieces to go along with the song or beautiful Christmas ornaments as well.
