Felt Halloween Ornaments Tutorial and Free Pattern

Felt Halloween Ornaments Tutorial and Free Pattern - Felt With Love Designs

I have a month packed with Halloween projects planned to share with you. Our fun, felt Halloween ornaments are kicking off the festivities!

These ornaments are perfect decorations to hang or turn into a banner. They are quick and easy enough for a beginner sewing project.

To create your own felt Halloween ornaments you will need:

  • The Pattern
  • Felt (colors stated below, with each ornament)
  • Mini-brads (for the candy corn – optional)
  • Thread to match felt
  • Needle
  • Scissors

Candy Corn:

*Felt colors: orange, yellow, and white

  2. Position the yellow bottom piece on the white background piece and stitch together where the yellow/white “meet”
  3. Position the orange middle in place and stitch together where the orange meets both the white and the yellow

  5. Stick in two black mini-brads for eyes and two pink mini-brads for cheeks Felt Halloween Ornaments Tutorial and Free Pattern - Candy Corn Face - Felt With Love Designs
  6. Create a loop of ribbon and stitch the two ends together with a stitch or two (just enough to hold the ribbon and make it easier when sewing the ornaments shut) Felt Halloween Ornaments Tutorial and Free Pattern - Candy Corn Ribbon Loop - Felt With Love Designs
  7. Starting from the top left side of the ornament, stitch the back piece to the front piece using a blanket stitch. Leave the top open.
  8. Position the ribbon loop in the gap at the top of the ornament and continue stitching the rest of the way around, securing the ribbon in the stitches

Skull:

*Felt colors: black and white

  2. Position the eyes and nose pieces on the white background piece and stitch down

  4. Create a loop of ribbon and stitch the two ends together with a stitch or two (just enough to hold the ribbon and make it easier when sewing the ornaments shut) Felt Halloween Ornaments Tutorial and Free Pattern - Skull Ribbon Loop - Felt With Love Designs
  5. Starting from the top left side of the ornament, stitch the back piece to the front piece using a blanket stitch. Leave the top open.
  6. Position the ribbon loop in the gap at the top of the ornament and continue stitching the rest of the way around, securing the ribbon in the stitches

Haunted House:

*Felt colors: black and yellow

  1. Cut all of the pieces from felt

  4. Create a loop of ribbon and stitch the two ends together with a stitch or two (just enough to hold the ribbon and make it easier when sewing the ornaments shut)
  5. Starting from the top left side of the ornament, stitch the back piece to the front piece using a blanket stitch. Leave the top open.
  6. Position the ribbon loop in the gap at the top of the ornament and continue stitching the rest of the way around, securing the ribbon in the stitches

Tombstone:

*Felt colors: black and grey

  3. Create a loop of ribbon and stitch the two ends together with a stitch or two (just enough to hold the ribbon and make it easier when sewing the ornaments shut)
  4. Starting from the top left side of the ornament, stitch the back piece to the front piece using a blanket stitch. Leave the top open.
  5. Position the ribbon loop in the gap at the top of the ornament and continue stitching the rest of the way around, securing the ribbon in the stitches

Moon:

*Felt colors: black and off-white

  4. Starting from the top left side of the ornament, stitch the back piece to the front piece using a blanket stitch. Leave the top open.
